Ffff. I have a love/hate relationship with hair. I love how it looks, but I haaaaaaate drawing it. So damn much. ;_;

I might color this later. XD; I dunno. I like how it looks with just pencil.

Well, you asked for critiques, so here's my critique.

Value-wise, this looks quite good. You've got a good spread of values, even if your lighting is fairly "flat." It looks nice.

You do have a few minor anatomy issues: her right upper arm is shorter than her left (remember the elbow should line up with the bottom of the rib cage) and both her lower arms look a bit short and thin. She also seems to be missing her hips. Other than that, it looks pretty good to me.

I really like how stylized this is - you manage to keep the proportions looking pretty good despite how exaggerated it is. nice work!

First impressionn was that it worked, it was cohesive and nothing jarred.

Looking a little more, there are some minor quibbles with the anatomy: her right forearm is very small, especially juxtaposed to the large hand. The shoulders are small and there seems to be disagreement between the shoulders and the breasts as to which way they are pointing (particularly in the overlap of left arm to left breast.

I think a suggestion of hips would have made the dress more convincing.

The flower and the hair are very stylized, but work well. Perhaps some sense of depth would have helped the hair - each clump is very similar, regardless of light source/shadow.

It certainly isn't bad. Your pencilling technique as well as use of texture are lovely. What you need to work on though is the anatomy. Draw sketches from reference until your hands fall off (not literally lol) without paying any attention to make it pretty and clean, just get the proportions right. A lot of people overlook this and think that if they just draw the same type of girl, covered in lots of hair, flowy dresses and accessories, people will like it anyway because it's pretty. But to be respected as an artist you have to offer more. Draw people of all ages and body types in all kinds of poses, with different expressions and engaging in activities. And draw them many many times from reference until it comes natural to you.

I see so many artists here with great technique, that have no substance to apply it on, nothing to say (including me!). You can stop worrying about how well you use the pencil and start worrying what you use it for ;)

Good luck to you!

This looks amazing! ^^ I really hope you'll colour it ^w^

It began with the forging of the great brownies. Three were given to the elves, hungriest of all beings. Seven to the dwarf lords, miners and craftsmen in the art of cooking. And nine… Nine were given to the race of men, who above all else desire cookies!

Thank you! (XD And yes, I will!)

XD Yes, anatomy is the bane of my existance, I know I need a lot more practice when it comes to that. I used a reference pic for the arms and hands to help me out, but ref pics only go so far. :3

The reason I'm only worrying about my pencil skills is because I know all the other things I need to work on (anatomy, lighting, etc.) and I'm already trying to improve all those things, but it would have been nice to hear how I'm doing with pencil drawings. XD;
